Scary Mommy published my essay, Someone Else’s Transgender Identity Isn’t About You, in November of 2019. It’s an important piece, and I’m supremely proud of it.

Something She Wrote has been resurrected!

You’ll find lots of stuff at my old blog, Something She Wrote. The writing there garnered a literary agent’s interest in my second novel, after my first had been rejected by a small NY publishing house. Some significant life changes have since led me down a different path, and everything else on this website illustrates where you find me today, but maybe I’ll meet fiction writing again down the road.

I contributed to Women Unplugged for a few years, writing about life and motherhood and more.

An Army of Ermas, offered in the vein of revered author Erma Bombeck, used a handful of my humor essays. This website has been retired.

“Janna’s essays with An Army of Ermas were a wonderful dose of heartfelt humor plus a side of sass. As her editor, I knew I could count on her to be the consummate writing professional and an asset to the team.”

Stacey Graham, author, editor, and associate agent, Red Sofa Literary

I contributed blog posts to Rose & Thorn Literary Journal, retired after a ten-year run, as well as edited many prose features for them.

“Janna Leadbetter was the most dependable, skilled, and professional staff editor I had during the ten years I was co-publisher of Rose & Thorn Journal. No task was ever too large or small for her, and more importantly, she was able to work with every contributor (poets, authors, writers, artists) whose work we accepted. That is a rare commodity today.”
